LG Innotek is quickly advancing its work in physical artificial intelligence (AI), strengthening its collaboration with U.S. software developer Applied Intuition. The company announced Thursday that its CEO, Moon Hyuk-soo, met with Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition, at LG Innotek’s headquarters in Seoul on Wednesday. They discussed possible ways to work together on physical AI.
This meeting followed up on the strategic partnership the two companies announced in March, which focused on autonomous driving. LG Innotek and Applied Intuition are working to improve self-driving solutions. They plan to combine LG Innotek’s sensing modules with Applied Intuition’s software platform.
“Applied Intuition is a leader in physical AI, trusted by global companies,” Moon said. “Through this partnership, LG Innotek aims to become a top global player in sensing technologies in the age of physical AI.” Other senior executives from both companies also attended the meeting. These included LG Innotek’s Chief Technology Officer John Min and Applied Intuition’s Head of Automotive Vertical Will Lin.
During the meeting, the executives reviewed how their joint work on autonomous driving technologies is progressing. They also coordinated strategies for important customers and planned joint marketing efforts. Beyond self-driving cars, the companies also looked into expanding their cooperation into wider physical AI areas, such as robotics and drones.
LG Innotek plans to use its strengths in advanced sensing technologies, which include cameras, light detection and ranging (LiDAR), and radar. Applied Intuition brings its experience in using physical AI software in various industries, like defense, construction, and agriculture. Together, they aim to broaden their collaboration in mobility and robotics.
During its first-quarter earnings call on Monday, LG Innotek shared its plans to use its multi-modal sensing modules to grow its physical AI business. This expansion into autonomous driving and robotics aims to build a strong foundation for long-term growth.
