The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is indeed returning, and it’s happening very soon. After its unexpected discontinuation last year, AMD’s first-ever X3D processor is making a comeback, confirmed by new leaks showing its retail packaging. This special “10-Year AM4 Anniversary edition” is real.
The same leaker, @9550pro, who initially reported the return, also shared images of the retail box for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10-Year AM4 Anniversary edition. The box design looks almost identical to the original, with the only notable difference being the added “Anniversary” branding at the bottom. Reports suggest the processor will arrive in Q2 2026, meaning AMD could announce it anytime now.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10-Year AM4 Anniversary edition will feature the exact same specifications as its initial launch. This means it will come with the Zen 3 architecture, an 8-core/16-thread setup, clock speeds of up to 4.5 GHz, and a total of 96 MB of L3 cache. It holds the distinction of being the very first Ryzen chip to incorporate 3D V-Cache technology. This innovative tech boosted its L3 cache from 32 MB to a massive 96 MB by using a dedicated L3 cache chiplet.
Thanks to this unique design, the 5800X3D consistently outperformed higher-end Ryzen 5000 series CPUs in gaming. It even stood toe-to-toe with some Ryzen 7000 series processors, making it a standout for gamers.
The re-release of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D offers a fantastic upgrade path for current AM4 motherboard owners. They can easily switch from non-X3D or older Ryzen chips to significantly boost their system’s gaming performance.
At 1080p resolution, this processor will be particularly effective when paired with high-end graphics cards. Given the current high prices of DDR5 memory, the continued availability of the DDR4-based AM4 platform allows existing systems to remain viable and competitive for even longer.
