Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says U.S. GPU Export Ban to China Has “Failed”

NVIDIA is joining forces with South Korea’s largest companies and the government itself to build strong AI systems. These partnerships mark a significant step in the country’s technological future.

One key collaboration is with Samsung. Samsung is setting up a new AI factory that will heavily rely on 50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell server GPUs and other NVIDIA technologies to make its computer chips. Samsung calls this “AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing.” This advanced approach will help Samsung improve its chip-making, predict when machines need fixing, and make its automated operations run more smoothly. NVIDIA will specifically help Samsung change its chipmaking equipment to work well with its powerful GPUs, which should make Samsung’s work 20 times faster.

Another major South Korean company, carmaker Hyundai, will also use 50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. Hyundai plans to use these powerful chips to build AI models for both manufacturing processes and self-driving cars.

The SK Group, a large business group that includes SK Telecom and memory chip supplier SK Hynix, is also stepping up its AI game. They will use 50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell server chips to launch an industrial AI cloud. NVIDIA says this new facility will drive “the next generation of memory, robotics, digital twins, and intelligent AI agents,” hinting at future innovations. Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s CEO, was recently in South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit, where he was seen alongside top leaders, including Samsung’s Jay Y. Lee and Hyundai’s Chung Euisun.

Finally, NVIDIA is working directly with the South Korean government on its own national AI infrastructure, which the country will fully control. The Korean government will deploy 50,000 NVIDIA GPUs to its new National AI Computing Center. These GPUs will also be deployed at facilities owned by local companies such as Kakao and Naver, boosting their AI capabilities.
