Maker and developer Philip Gutjahr has unveiled a cutting-edge Sensorpack that highlights the incredible flexibility of the Raspberry Pi platform. This sophisticated sensor array device is designed to collect various data types, including depth, thermal, and RGB information. It leverages multiple sensors integrated with a Raspberry Pi 5, while a Raspberry Pi Pico supports pre-processing for the thermal camera.

Gutjahr’s Sensorpack demonstrates the potential of combining different sensor technologies for advanced data processing. Though specific applications remain undefined, Gutjahr envisions the device generating color-mapped point clouds for 3D mapping and employing joint bilateral upsampling to enhance thermal and depth sensor accuracy using RGB data as a reference.
